PeriHelp ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and self-check toolkit, why we collect it, how we store and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
PeriHelp is operated by Vino Adventures (ABN 68 654 472 867). If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at hello@perihelp.com.au.
A note on what PeriHelp is
PeriHelp is an information and navigation service. It is not a clinic, not a telehealth service, and not a diagnosis. Our health content is reviewed by Dr Kelly Needham. The toolkit helps you recognise what you may be experiencing and prepare for a conversation with your GP. It does not replace medical advice.
What information we collect
Information you choose to give us
You can use the toolkit anonymously. We only collect information from the toolkit if you choose to enter your email at the end and tick the consent box. If you do, we collect:
- your email address;
- your first name (if you provide it); and
- a short summary of some of your answers, used to tailor your results and what we send you — specifically your state or territory, a general indication of symptom severity, whether you have spoken to a GP about this before, your cycle pattern, the approximate timing of your last period, and a family menopause-timing signal.
What stays on your device. Your detailed toolkit answers — including the specific symptoms you select — stay on your own device and are not sent to us unless you enter your email and consent. If you simply view your results without giving your email, we don't receive or store anything about you.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by a third-party provider (see below). Like most websites, the host's servers may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. The toolkit itself does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Health and other sensitive information
Some of the information above (such as symptom severity and reproductive details) is "sensitive information" — specifically health information — under the Privacy Act. We only collect it with your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box before submitting your email. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see "Your choices and rights" below).
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- send you your results, your GP conversation guide and your symptom tracker;
- tailor those results and follow-up emails to what you've told us;
- send you occasional, genuinely helpful information about perimenopause (only while you remain subscribed); and
- improve PeriHelp and keep our service secure.
We will not use your information for any unrelated purpose without your consent.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We use trusted service providers to run PeriHelp, and your information is shared with them only so they can provide their service to us:
- Kit (ConvertKit) — our email and subscriber platform, which stores your email, first name and the summary fields above, and delivers our emails.
- Netlify — our website hosting provider.
Overseas disclosure
Both Kit and Netlify are based in the United States, so by collecting your information through PeriHelp, your information is stored and processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that maintain appropriate security and privacy standards.
Marketing emails and unsubscribing
We only email you if you have given consent. In line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we'll stop sending you marketing emails. You can also reply to any email to ask us to update or remove your details.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above — generally while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we will remove it from our active systems within a reasonable period, unless we're required to keep some of it by law.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct it if it's wrong or out of date; or
- delete it.
To make a request, email us at hello@perihelp.com.au. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access — including using reputable providers, secure (HTTPS) connections, and limiting who can access your details. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
PeriHelp is intended for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from minors.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first at hello@perihelp.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.
This policy covers privacy only. PeriHelp's health content is for information and navigation, is reviewed by Dr Kelly Needham, and is not a diagnosis or a substitute for advice from a qualified doctor. If your symptoms are severe, or you're worried about your health, please see a GP. If you're really struggling, or you ever feel unsafe, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
